Or if you are looking for a gun for hire Rachael has an incredible eye for detail and is happy to come on board as an experienced and passionate camera operator or editor. She has worked as a camera operator and editor for all of the major broadcasters in New Zealand and global networks including France5 and The Discovery Channel. Recently Rachael directed a documentary film about curling for her masters in science communication and documentary film making.
To Whom It May Concern.
I acted as Rachael’s mentor on her film Gone Curling, produced in 2011 for her degree in Science Communication. This was a film that confronted many challenges along the way… warm weather when it should have been cold… as well as considerable logistics issues. However she and her filming partner took these in their stride. Where some filmmakers could have been intimidated by such events they adapted brilliantly to their changing circumstances and ended up producing a film that was a stand out. Rachael also developed an excellent rapport with the locals and was able to elicit great performances from the least expected characters - not an easy thing to achieve.
She was also extremely well prepared with a vision for what the finished film would look and feel like. This was born out in the original shooting script which stayed true to the story despite having to adapt as they went along. Technically the film had a great ‘look’ showing that Rachael has a multitude of skills; from script writing to location managing to cinematography and editing, that she will be able to put into practice in the industry.
I would have no hesitation in recommending Rachael to any prospective client or producer.
